About
the Artist
Lynn exhibited an affinity for art at an early age. She studied art and art
history in college and during that time she spent two months in Europe where she
was inspired by all the wonderful art she observed. She diverged from her
original passion for several years, spending time working on other endeavors,
including owning and running several businesses and focusing on her husband and
family. In 1999, she returned to her love of art and began studying figure and
portrait sculpturing with several instructors including Tom Williams and Martin
Dawe.
She recently completed a sculpture of President Jimmy Carter and Rosalyn Carter
which will be on view at the Carter Center in Atlanta. Lynn’s work has been in
several juried shows at the Atlanta Artists Center and at Spruill Art Center.
She has been commissioned to complete numerous sculptures for individuals
primarily in the Southeast. She currently teaches a class in portrait sculpting
at Chastain Art Center in Atlanta and is available to give private lessons.

From the Artist
I love portrait sculpting because a portrait captures the essence of who a
person is. I like the feel of the clay and the three dimensional aspect of
sculpture. I believe that molding clay can accurately represent the personality
of the individual. As I work, the clay comes to life. I add and subtract clay
and the person emerges. A person’s face is more than flesh, bone and muscle. It
is the window to their soul. I believe a portrait should reflect the essence of
that person.
Lynn McIntyre joyfully accepts commissions on
sculptures.
